A new tanning lounge has attracted 500 customers within weeks of opening its doors.

Glo & Go opened in Peterfield Road, Kingstown Industrial Estate, Carlisle, last month, creating four jobs.

The business is run by Stacy Hopper, 37, of Houghton, who previously worked as a mobile beautician, having trained at Carlisle College.

She chose to open at Kingstown – where her husband Paul Hopper runs Northern Security – because the location offers hassle-free parking and the option for customers employed at Kingstown or nearby Kingmoor Park to pop in during their lunch break or after work.

Glo & Go has five sunbeds and, says Mrs Hopper, is the most advanced tanning centre in Carlisle.

She added: “The feedback from our clients is that they’ve found our location extremely handy and convenient.

“A tanning session usually takes between 10 and 15 minutes so they’ve really welcomed our location because there isn’t the hassle of battling town centre traffic to find a parking space.

“More and more leisure facilities are locating out of town and, with areas such as Kingmoor and Harker earmarked for potential residential development, I think we will see even greater demand for public services in the Kingstown area.”

Mrs Hopper added: “We’ve made a significant investment and it’s encouraging to see just how popular the new salon has been.

“We’re looking forward to a successful future and hopefully the ability to create more jobs.”

Glo & Go is open seven days a week.
