50 years of Barrow nuclear submarine building
This week marks 50 years of nuclear submarine building in Barrow - and we want to hear your memories of a tradition which started with Dreadnought's launch in 1960.
What has nuclear submarine building brought to Barrow and the Furness peninsula?
What would it mean to the area not to have this expertise and employment which has continued to this day under BAE Systems?

How sad that the only two comments, of how great an industry this town has created in Submarine building, are so negative. I have great memories of working on my very first submarine 'Trenchant' in the mid 80's to now working on the Vanguard Replacement. I have met some wonderful and unique characters, the like of which I am sure I would not have met anywhere else in the world! I have watched with pride as every submarine that I have worked sailed from Barrow, knowing that I have done my absolute best in delivering that submarine to the navy. I am proud to work on the subs and will be till the day I die; I won't let anyone take that pride away from me.
