Swimathon Blog - Week One
WEEK one of my training for the Swimathon and I’ve already learned two vital lessons, the first of which is that I need to train a lot more! I’ve always enjoyed swimming since the day I taught myself to swim underwater by pulling myself along the bottom of a toddlers’ pool using my hands. (3 comments)

Family History: Where to start
One thing I love about delving into family history is finding out where my ancestors lived and what they done for a living. My grandma always tells me that she would tell her father that he had to have welsh origins with a name like Jenkins, which he flat out refused to believe. Had he been alive today I don't think he would be too happy with me as I proved the welsh link going back two generations prior to my grandpa. (1 comment)

Travelling
What I enjoy most of all is travelling. Not the actual getting there you understand, but the excitement leading up to it and everything else to boot. (3 comments)

Family History: How I got started
Around twelve years ago I would sit with my late gran as she compiled information that she had researched on her family history. After seeing photos of my two and three times great grandfathers and being told a story of how my great great grandfather was murdered the day before he was set to sail off with the navy I was hooked and wanted to know everything. Creating
From a young age I watched my mother and grandmother stitch and knit their way through children’s clothes and soft furnishings for the home. Not surprising then that I too “enjoy!” creating.

Walking
There is nothing like a brisk walk in the Northumbrian countryside to make you feel alive. Walking is a very easy hobby to fall into. You don’t need masses of expensive equipment, huge amounts of experience or high levels of fitness to start tramping the paths of Northumberland. (5 comments)

Outdoors
What I “enjoy!” doing is being out of doors – rain or shine. It is still more interesting than looking at four walls.
