THOSE of us old enough to remember when Terry Venables, then manager of QPR, tried to persuade the football world that plastic pitches were the future – he even penned a novel called They Used to Play on Grass – may feel that we have seen it all before. 
It is the day after the spending review, and I know how anxious people are feeling as they digest what has been announced. 
The final part of my challenge was today (Sunday) in Newcastle and would involve running or should I rephrase this as completing the 30th Bupa Great North Run. 
THE words sick as a parrot are definitely circling in my head. I am gutted the way things have gone.
