A CARLISLE rail freight firm is celebrating after winning a key contract and scooping a hat-trick of accreditations.
Direct Rail Services (DRS), of Etterby, has secured the contract to transport aggregates for the building of the ‘Vault 9’ project at the low level waste repository at Drigg, near Sellafield.
The news came as the company revealed it had become the only one of its kind in the UK to hold three key accreditations, having recently been recognised for its occupational health and safety policy.
Carlisle MP Eric Martlew will be at the firm’s headquarters tomorrow to help celebrate the achievements.
DRS provides rail freight services for clients including Sellafield nuclear plant, Tesco and Morrisons. The firm employs 280 people nationally.
